If I had a farm which was shortlisted for an organic oscar well I would be really proud.
Well done Goldhill Organic for your achievement!
Goldhill Organic is situated in the heart of the green Dorset countryside. Jane and Nick Somper visited it 22 years ago and were inspired by what they saw, the people, the place and the way in which the family farmed. Growing organic vegetables is no easy task, it requires lots of hard work and most of all lots passion.
Now they deliver boxes of fresh seasonal organic vegetables and fruit as well as locally reared good quality meat, cheese, jam and other locally sourced essentials.
I approached them because as you may know I am very interested in organic food. I love the extra flavour you get from organic vegetables and getting your vegetables straight from a farm guarantees you that freshness and therefore the extra flavour which is so often lacking in store bought vegetables.
I tried one of their vegetables boxes and I loved the freshness of the vegetables just being picked! The box had a variety of seasonal vegetables.
Among all the vegetables, salad is the one I enjoy most. On my dinner table there will always be, every day, a bowl filled to the brim with fresh leaves.
I had it with fresh radishes which were in the box too, all drizzled with olive oil, organic cider vinegar and a sprinkle of salt.
My dad always used to grow radishes. Their pungent peppery flavour adds a kick to salads and some colour too! Radishes have a detoxing and purifying effect on the body.
I really enjoyed the new potatoes: so buttery and full of flavour. I just boiled them and drizzled some olive oil on them. They did not need much else as they were very tasty already.
Also I received some turnips and beetroots which I cooked together. Turnips are not something I am familiar with so hubby gave me a few tips on how to cook them. Beetroot is nice with some olive oil, vinegar and a few cloves of garlic.
This pak choi was delicious stir fried with olive oil, sesame seeds and soy sauce.
Vegetables got style!
