With temperatures rising and the weather improving I thought it was a good time to take my children on a visit to a working sheep farm. With the sun shining and blue skies the English countryside is showing all its beauty; driving through its narrow roads and looking at that emerald green grass with daffodils dancing in the gentle breeze, those fairy-tale looking old country cottages scattered everywhere make you feel like you have just landed in fairyland. Such beauty just takes my breath away.
I did not grow up in the UK, in fact I lived in Italy for the first 24 years of my life and even if quite a few years have passed since then, there are times when I feel I have still so much to discover here.
We loved looking at the sheep and there were many lambs with many born on the same day or just a few days old.
The children loved stroking the animals who were very keen on being cuddled!
At this time of year the fields are populated by sheep, lambs and cows happily grazing that fresh green grass. Months of rain have contributed to it. And can you imagine the quality of the milk from those cows? It is just going to taste incredible.
There was even a lady spinning yarn!
The wool is sheared off the sheep during the summer months, then it is washed and ready to be made into yarn and then into jumpers and blankets!
Here is some fleece that has been washed ready for spinning.
And finally we saw this mummy pig feeding her babies.. so sweet!!!
It was a great day out!
