Deana and Lee had a dream: they wanted to move to Italy surrounded by nature, eat deliciously locally grown food and welcome guests from all over the world.
So several years ago they left the UK and opened their own bed & breakfast in the area of the Langhe in Piemonte. They restored an 100 years old traditional stone villa which used to be a “farm house” looking over an hazelnut plantation: Villa Bergolo.
Villa Bergolo is situated only a 5 minute drive outside the Medieval village of Bergolo. With spectacular views across the Bormida valley, forms part of the ‘Alta Langa’ or “Upper Langhe”; this is characterized by rolling hills, vineyards and winding roads with breath taking scenery around every corner. This area is famous for its medieval castles, wines, cheeses, gourmet foods, truffles and hazelnuts, a delicacy of Piemonte.
Deana and Lee have successfully been running their villa for years but they now want to focus on specialized affordable holidays. Initially these will be all-inclusive yoga retreats and in future there will be cookery holidays too where I will be involved.
The first retreat which will take place from the 21st to the 26th of September 2017, will be five days of uplifting, energizing and dynamic classes that will take your yoga to the next level with delicious vegetarian meals from the freshest local produce. You will be able to sample the local culture with a wander through the surrounding woods and hazelnut groves to the Medieval Village of Bergolo.
Check out Neat Retreats for more info.
The Piemonte region is a fab place for foodies; the town of Alba is less than an hour away from Bergolo and it is famous for its truffles, peaches, hazelnuts and farmers market.
In future there will be cookery and slow food holidays too so do let me know if you are interested in taking a cookery and slow food holiday at Villa Bergolo where I will be teaching to make easy healthy Italian dishes for any day of the week 🙂
