Melon and Parma ham roses

Melon and Parma ham roses

By 02/08/2013

I am in Italy enjoying the sunshine and with temperatures approaching 36C nothing can be more refreshing than eating plenty of fruit.

Over the last weekend I went to a wedding and of course, like most Italian weddings we ate loads. One of the appetizers was melon roses and Parma ham which was delicious and looked so pretty. They turned the melon into little roses and made lots of them.

I loved the idea and did it at home. Very nice as an appetizer for a hot summer lunch or for a dinner al fresco!

  • Prep Time : 35 minutes

Ingredients

Instructions

Cut the melon in 4 halves, scrape off the seeds and peel it.

With the help of a sharp knife slice the melon about 2 mm thick

The thinner you slice it the better

I haven’t gone to a good old fashioned Italian wedding in ages, Alida. When my family lived in Brooklyn, it seemed like there was a wedding every weekend:)

Your Rose of Melon and Parma Ham looks magnificent! And oh how refreshing it must be.

Thank you so much for sharing…
