How can you make yourself happy?
These are a few tips.
- First you need to fullfill a few basic needs like being generally healthy, having a few good friends and a decent comfortable home;
- Live in the present, which means not obsessing about what’s in the past or worrying unnecessarily for what has yet to come;
- Enjoy the simple things in life;
- Learn a few basic relaxation tecniques;
Easily said than done buy hey, I have found that things adjust themselves naturally if we let them go without worrying too much on the outcome and one of the best ways to relax is to go out in the country, breathing fresh air and feeling the sun on your skin. Simple life pleasures.
The weather has been superb over here in the UK: hot and sunny so we had a picnic in the countryside.
England has a wonderful green countryside all year round. Yes it has its fair share of rain, that’s why the fields are so emerald green, but we do get beautiful sunny days too and everything seems to come to life when the sun is out.
What I love is to lay on the grass, feeling the fresh air, smelling the young spring grass and that feeling of the sun on your skin is so reinvigorating after a long cold winter!
Everything is in bloom at this time of year with so many colours everywhere. It is a feast for the eyes!
I enjoy observing nature. This is the trunk of a tree. It is fascinating as you can see how much a tree has grown over the years.
I prepared our picnic the evening before. A simple rice salad with whatever I had in the fridge: peas, carrots, olives, eggs, tuna and a few chunks of parmesan cheese. The children loved it.
The rice was followed by a frittata with zucchini and spinach with parmesan cheese. So simple to make. I will be posting a recipe soon. Frittata is just great to have cold on a picnic.
A fresh fruit salad. I squeezed some fresh orange juice on top and as a treat I added just a little bit of vanilla powdered sugar too.
The children were so happy. All they want and love is to be outdoors in the fresh air!
This is happiness for me.
Grazie cara Vanna, buona settimana.
Dear Alida,
I love this post and you are correct the sun makes everything come alive. On Mother’s Day we saw the sun finally after more than a week with rain, and gloomy weather. I adore your photos..you really are becoming a wonderful and talented photographer. The flowers and the trees make me want to come right over there and enjoy your beautiful scenery. Terrific photo of the tree. That tree seemed to be old by the rings. Your children are so sweet, I think your daughter reminds me of you and your son I think looks like your hubby. They both must be such a joy. I envy your picnic foods..I love that rice dish…looking forward to the recipe soon. Thanks for sharing with us your day in the sun with your children. Have a good week…
Hugs Dottie 🙂
I think there has been lots of rain a little bit everywhere this year. It is now time to enjoy spring and a bit of warmth. Thanks for all your nice words. Ciao!
Look delicious and the pictures are beautiful!!
Grazie Gloria buona giornata.
There is nothing more gratifying than enjoying a delicious picnic in the countryside, mountain or by the sea. We just crave that moment when we open our cool-bags and start bringing out all that yummy food. Glad you and your family enjoyed your day – what gorgeous kids! Your photos are awesome.
The weather has turned colder again.. hoping for a little bit of warmth again. Is it better where you are? I love having picnics especially because the children enjoy them so much.
