Ham and cheese puff pastry rolled tart

I was dying to share this super-quick and super yummy tart made with puff pastry ham and cheese.
I served it for dinner last night (after a warming minestrone!) and my God.. we were fighting at the table...
Follow the step by step instructions and you will make this cute looking rolled tart in no time. It is ideal as party food too and if you are vegetarian you can make a different filling like for instance a classic ricotta and spinach.
- Prep Time : 10 minutes
- Cook Time : 35 minutes
Ingredients
- puff pastry - 2 rectangular sheets
- ham - 250 g (about 15 slices)
- olives - a handful
- hard cheese - (of your choice) 140 g / 1 + 1/4 cup
- poppy seeds - to sprinkle
- milk - to brush
Instructions
Slice both pastry sheets lengthwise into 3 long rectangles
Place the ham slices and the olives finely chopped on the pastry
Add the cheese chopped into pieces
Roll lengthwise inwards like a cigar
Gently seal them with your fingers using a little milk. Do not squeeze too hard.
Arrange the rolls on a round baking tray covered with baking paper to form a long sausage rolled into itself. Pinch the ends of the rolls and join them together.
Brush the surface with milk and sprinkle with poppy seeds, and bake at 190 degrees (374 Fahrenheit ) for 30-35 minutes until nice and golden.
Enjoy warm!
I am entering this to "No Waste Food Challenge" hosted by Elizabeth.
This looks incredible!!! Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you Mimi! x
Hi Alida,
Fantastic! I am going to make this! I am having my crochet group of ladies come on Dec 10th for our annual Christmas gathering. This will be perfect for them….It is very simple and looks fabulous. I love when it is finished they way the rolls looks, so very festive. You are amazing…Thank you for sharing this with us.. This time I will take a photo to show you. Do you think I could sub sesame seeds instead of poppy? Some of the ladies do not like the poppy as they get into their teeth.
Also, congratulations on being nominated for the Blogger’s Lounge Awards. YEAH! I voted for you most definitely! Can I go back every day and vote till the 16th or is it only once? Hope that you win!!! Have a wonderful weekend dear friend…
Dottie xx 🙂
I am pleased you like my recipe. Of course you can use sesame seeds instead of poppy seeds, they will be just as nice! Poppy seeds remind me of all the cakes I had in Austria years ago. They seem to bake many cakes there using poppy seeds… so delicious!
You can vote only once from the same device…. Thank you for thinking of me!
Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving day with your family x
Look really beautiful Alida:)
You are right that these are so cute!!!! Love em! Congrats on the contest…I will click to the site now! good luck e buon weekend!
Ciao e buon weekend anche a te cara Diana x
I made a similar one with nut fruit filling a couple of years ago. It was delicious, but I love your savoury version even more. Thanks for sharing, Alida.
I love poppy seeds, if I was making for myself I wouldn’t care, but your want your company to be happy and I know these ladies from other times. So sesame seeds it will be. Thank you Alida for the info….by the way I voted again for you on my Kindle last night. Have a wonderful weekend friend! Dottie 🙂
You are a sweetie! Thank you Dottie!
Alida, your rolled tart looks scrumptious and beautiful! What a brilliant idea 🙂
