I am the winner of the Michael Caines Uniform Foodies challenge!

When I was selected as one of three finalists for the Uniform Foodies challenge I was over the moon. I could not contain myself for the idea of going to an exclusive cook off in London with Michael Caines.

The excitement of being given the opportunity to be cooking with a Michelin star chef was overwhelming.  But I never would have imagined that I could also be the winner of the challenge! Sometimes life brings you the unexpected.

What a roller coaster of emotions. I was really nervous of meeting him at first and thought I would find it difficult to cook whilst being watched by a top chef. Besides I am not into competitions. Too nerve wracking.

In the end, to my surprise, I felt immediately at ease. Michael has a very calm, kind and easy going personality.

It was also nice to meet the other two contestants: Vicky of The Free From Fairy and Nova of Cherished by Me.

It was actually the first time I met other fellow bloggers and it was great to have a chat and exchange ideas and blogging tips. I really enjoyed that. I was also looking forward to trying Vicky’s and Nova’s dishes too.

And off we started.. let’s cook!

It was great to get tips and advice from a Michelin star chef and I certainly made the most of it!

talking to michael caines

I asked Michael cookery tips like: “Do you season your meat before cooking it or afterwards?”. I have always being in doubt about this one. Some people say it gets tough if you season it before. He said seasoning before cooking it is perfectly fine. There you go, a tip from a top chef!

And finally Michael tastes the dishes…

Vicky made a Malai Kofta Curry and Nova a Warm Goats Cheese and Pancetta Salad with Walnut Soda Bread.
I loved both dishes. I really liked the delicate taste of the soda bread with the melted goat cheese and salad; the curry was creamy, flavorsome and with all those crunchy cashew nuts very addictive. I would not know which one to pick!

And…drums beating..announcing the winner!

Oh my.. It’s me! My Mediterranean lemon chicken salad with rosemary new potatoes was the winning dish!
