I simply adore figs. Properly ripe ones will beautifully melt in your mouth and you can do so many fab things with them: They are delicious in sweet tarts, cakes and desserts, fig jam is fabulous and they can be added into many savoury dishes too.
I think one of the best and most classic combinations is Parma ham and figs. Add some cheese and a sprinkle of salad or arugola and you have a quick and tasty lunch in no time.
And these bruschette were my lunch yesterday. I drizzled some honey and sprinkled chopped walnuts on the figs too.. pure greed really.. but what a heavenly combination of flavours! 🙂
- Prep Time : 15 minutes
Toast the bread, cut the slices into halves and spread some cheese on them
Put a few rocket leaves on the cheese and a slice of Parma ham
Wash the figs, trim the stem if it is hard then slice the figs. Cut the slices into quarters and put them on top of the ham.
Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with chopped walnuts and serve!
