Tiramisu Recipe

Today I was clearing up around the house and I came across an old cookery book of mine, one of those books you cherish like a baby for the rest of your days. Books are memories and this one certainly is as it reminds me of my teenage days I used to spend baking over the weekend and during the long Italian school summer holidays (which last for 3 month as they are all concentrated during the summer months).

Looking into it I found that classic Tiramisu' recipe I used to do so many times.

We all need something to cheer us up to fill the void after all the festivities have gone and.. above all the thought of our empty pockets especially during these times of recession!
This dessert is just amazing, very rich indeed but also so  EXTREMELY yummy!

So I went to the shops, got some mascarpone, savoiardi biscuits and eggs and made it up in 20 minutes and guess what, although it might have made my belly a bit bigger, who cares, I don't have it every day and I did feel better after having it; also I could even do more work around the house! It is not called "pick me up" for no reason!

  • Prep Time : 35-40 minutes



Make the coffee and add 2 tbsp of sugar and stir well. Let it cool down then add the rum.
Whip the cream. Beat the yolks with 120 g of sugar until they reach a creamy consistency, then add the vanilla, the mascarpone and the cream. Stir well.

Lay the biscuits on a tray and soak them with the coffee mixture and put plenty of mascarpone cream and level it well. Then make another layer of biscuits and cream and then dust with the cocoa.

Leave to rest in the fridge for 3 hours before serving.

    Hi, would like to try this recipe, but I am not sure how big a “glass of coffee” is.

      Hello Marsha,
      You will need about 17 oz of coffee, enough to soak all the biscuits.
